Bringing life up to date
2012 is my year for changes. Back in December 2011, January-March 2012 I decided to take my health into my own hands. I was so sick and at that time was on 27 different meds a day. My legs and arms were swelling up like balloons. Horrible pain through my whole body made day to day life unbearable. I really did not think I was going to make it to the next day.
My list of specialists included my PCP, Nurse Practioner, Endocrynologist, ENT, Pulmonologist, Urologist and then last but not least my Neurosurgeon and his team. No one was addressing the amount of meds I was taking. Everyone felt that my pcp had it under controll. She didn't. So I had to do it myself.
Since the first of the year I have weaned myself off of all but 9 meds. Myn pcp thought it was great when I went off of my Vicoden and Xanax but not happy about the rest. Miraculously a few weeks after I had started weaning the swelling issues got better. The pain is different now too. It does not seem to be tied to my swelling issues I was dealing with.
I am down 30 lbs. since the first of the year. But still need to lose another 130 lbs. Although nI am feeling better does not take away my main medical issues. My neurosurgeon wanted me to seek gastric weightloss surgery. Insurance wise is not gonna happen. I need to lose weight in order to have a better outcom of my surgery. Makes sence to me.
So about a month ago I decided that my pcp was not doing me any good after many questions and no answers. I decided to find another pcp. I asked for my files to be ready for me to pick up and the day I was going to pick them up I recieved a certified letterd. This letter was from my pcp's office stating that our relationship was not a good one and I had 30 days to find another pcp. Really???? WTF is with that hu? I had in a sence fired them first anyway. So I now have a new pcp and she seems to be doing ok. I did get some of my MRI's ordered and they have faught to get 1 of the 3 approved. Progress.....
One of my facebook friends whom I used to work with has started using a product that I think may work for me. So since my birthday is June 1st. and that is when I get my SSI check I am going to start the program. I have agreed to a 90 day challange. I will stick to this and see how my health and weight get better. With having 130 lbs to lose I figure it will take me about 2 years to accomplish. In 2 years from now I will hit the big 50! My wish, hope and prayers is that my 50's will be healthier than my 20-40's.
Welcome to my journey as I SLIDE INTO 50!
